How to Root GalaxyTab 2 7.0 on 4.1.2 , flash custom recovery and install a Custom Rom








(Make sure your Tab has at least 60% battery left. Now on your Tab go to menu > settings > application > development and  check on "USB Debugging Option")






1. Download and install Samsung USB drivers (  http://goo.gl/MMqpbz )
    Sometime restarting PC is required.

2.  Then download Chainfire's CF-AutoRoot zip file ( http://goo.gl/goxcPe  )
      Extract the file and you'll find CF-Auto-Root-espressorf-espressorfxx-gtp3100.tar.md5 file.

3. Now download ODINv3.07  ( http://goo.gl/3kcCtd )
     Extract it in a separate folder.

4. Power off your Galaxy Tab.  Now press and hold POWER button and VolumeDown  button for    few seconds. A warning message is displayed on the screen. Now press  VolumeDown button to go into  Download  mode.

5. Now run Odin 3.07.exe file as an administrator. 

6. Connect your Tab to PC via USB cable. Wait for few minutes until Odin detects your Tab. You will then see a notification in the bottom left in Odin saying “Added!!”
(If the Tab is not recognised by Odin then try plugging it into another USB port. It it still fails to detect Tab then re-install samsung usb driver and try again)

7. In Odin,  click "PDA" button and select "CF-Auto-Root-espressorf-espressorfxx-gtp3100.tar.md5" file you extracted earlier.
  Select "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" checkboxes in Odin.
  Make sure you don't select "Re-Partition" checkbox.

8. Now click "Start" button in Odin.
   Wait until Odin flashes root image to your Tab. When the process is completed Odin  will display  green Pass notification and will automatically reboot your Tab.

9. Have patience. When Lockscreen or Homescreen is seen in your Tab,  you can unplug the USB cable from PC.

Congratulations! Your Galaxy Tab is now rooted.


(If you encounter any problems with Odin, then you can unplug your tablet from PC, close Odin and then repeat the entire tutorial again )




Now that you have rooted your tab. You should flash a custom recovery next.


(Make sure your Tab has at least 60% battery left. 
Now on your Tab go to menu > settings > application > development and  check on "USB Debugging Option")


1. Download CWM touch recovery  file for your Tab ( http://d-h.st/vY7  )

2. Power off your Tab. Now,  press and hold VolumeDown + PowerButton to enter into Bootloader. Press VolumeDown button to go to Download mode.

3. Connect your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to computer using USB cable.

4. Run Odin software that you installed previously on the computer.

5. Click on PDA button and select recovery.tar file you downloaded.

6. Ensure that Auto-Reboot and F.Resest Time is checked. 
To start flashing process click on the Start button. Go out take a piss, eat something, this may take few minutes.

7. When flashing process is completed Tab will be rebooted automatically  and  you'll get a pass message in Odin.

Congratulations!  You have successfully flash custom recovery.

( If you get a fail message  then you can unplug your tablet from PC, close Odin and then repeat the entire tutorial again)




Finally, you are ready to flash a custom rom on your Tab.


(Make sure your tab has at least 60% battery left. Go to "developer options" in settings and select USB debugging)


1. Download any compatible custom rom for your Tab. You can download mokee's android 4.4.2 based custom rom from here ( http://download.mfunz.com/?device=p3100 ) -  Choose the latest one. 

2. Now  download 4.4.2 gapps from here ( http://goo.gl/IPffuq )

3. After the zip files are downloaded, connect your phone to computer. Copy the zip file to Tab's root folder (that means not in any folders). Then unplug the Tab from computer.

4. Power off your device. 

5.  Press and hold Power button and VolumeUP button at the same time. Now you are at the recovery mode. 

6. Select  Backup to backup your current stock rom.

7. Then go back. Select "Wipe Data /Factory Reset".

8.  Go back and select "Choose .zip from SD Card" and select the Rom you copied onto the SD card and wait for it to flash.

9.  After flashing rom, now you have to flash gapps (google apps package to be able to use various google apps and services). 

10. Now press Go Back. Then select "Choose .zip from SD card". Select the gapps package you copied onto SD card and flash it.

11. After flashing is completed, choose "Reboot Device"

12. Have patience. Go take a piss, watch some videos.  Your tab can take upto 10 minutes to boot up.


Congratulations! You have successfully flashed a custom rom on your Tab. Enjoy the power of Android.

How to enable Google Now in Android 5.0 Lollipop in Nepal and every other countries (location reporting not available problem) [ROOT Needed]
